Blue Bloods season 10: No wedding footage leftover following finale

Blue Bloods season 10

For anyone hoping that Blue Bloods season 10 may pick up where the finale left off in terms of the Jamie/Eddie wedding, prepare to be disappointed. Or, this seems to be the sentiment for now.

Speaking in a new interview with TVLine, Will Estes addressed the recent commentary about the big ceremony, and why potentially there was so little of it actually on the air:

“We already did the vows at the dinner table…. But I’m grasping at straws. I got nothing … You know how Hitchcock taught us that the monster you don’t see is the scariest? Maybe the wedding you don’t see is the most beautiful?”

On the subject of if there was any extra footage filmed beyond what we saw on the show (a theory of many fans of late), Estes confirmed that the crew “filmed her walking a little bit more, but there was no other dialogue.” With that in mind, it’s clear that there were no actual vows filmed, or was there some sort of celebration after the fact.

While Estes commented that it’s always possible that the tenth season could pick up where the wedding left off, he hasn’t heard anything suggesting that. We also imagine that this would be incredibly hard to put together since you’d need to get back many of the same extras, get back the venue, and try to replicate everything from as it was earlier this year when the finale was shot. More than likely, the series is just going to move forward — though we certainly think that the Blue Bloods team is aware of some of the blowback.

Ultimately, we don’t like the decision that the creative team made here in regards to the wedding, but we do have a sense of where it stems from — and it’s much of the same thing that it’s always stemmed from with this show. They often choose to leave certain big moments out of the action that happens on-screen. For example, we learned about the death of Linda months after the fact and, beyond that, we learned about Jamie and Eddie’s engagement when the two went to family dinner together. We didn’t see any moment play out onscreen and that’s not really a trend we see changing in the future, provided that we get some other big moments for Jamko or some of the other characters like Danny, Erin, or Frank.

Blue Bloods will be returning with season 10 this fall, and in the same timeslot that it’s always been a part of.

Are you bummed out that the idea of a Blue Bloods season 10 wedding continuation seems to be completely up in smoke? Be sure to share right now in the attached comments.
