Game of Thrones season 8 episode 6: First series finale spoilers, ruins

Game of Thrones

Next week on HBO, Game of Thrones season 6 episode 8 is going to air and obviously, this one will leave your hair standing on end. This is the series finale — the end of the road, and a chance to see just how epic a conclusion that we’re going to get.

Obviously, this is a cause for great excitement since we’re getting a chance to really dive in and enjoy an excellent story here one final time … but there is an underlying sense of sadness here, as well. It’s the thought that we won’t get any of these characters again and while there may be a prequel, we don’t have to tell you that the feel of that show will be different. It has to be different.

At this point, HBO is keeping things as secretive as they can when it comes to details on the final episode, but there is one thing that we can say wholeheartedly: There’s going to be carnage. Beyond that, you’re going to see a city largely in ruins. You can win a battle, but is it really worth it when you lose everything? One of the questions that Game of Thrones is clearly making you wonder as this point is whether or not we did the wrong thing by rooting for Daenerys all this time. She was fine being the breaker of chains and the liberator when it suited her, but she’s now determined that to be on the Iron Throne, she needed to revert to claiming a victory by fear — and there are some pretty terrifying consequences that go along with that.

There are, more than likely, going to be characters who die. Some of them may even surprise. We just hope at this point that there’s going to be a Seven Kingdoms really left when all of the dust settles.

For those wondering, the Game of Thrones series finale is going to be extended in terms of its run time, and with that, you can expect this to be yet another movie event. We don’t expect every single loose end with this series to be tied up, but there should be enough for the overall story to feel complete … or at least complete as it should be.
