The Durrells season 4 episode 4 preview: The quest for likability
What we’ve seen so far this season is rather simple: If you want to live within a peaceful existence, we’re not quite sure that the Durrell household is where you’d like to be. Instead, it’s utter chaos most of the time in between the relationship drama, the crazy clients, and then also the zoo-like environment created by Gerry and some of his animals.
With all of this in mind, Louisa is going to find herself asking a big question entering this episode: How is it that the family can be seen as more likable. Is there an easy way in which to do that? Well, getting involved in the community is a novel start! We’re not sure how well this is going to go, mostly since few things within the world of The Durrells are spotless, but we certainly think that there is a chance for a lot of entertainment here.
On a more emotional note, we do think that there’s a good chance that Louisa is going to be left thinking about her feelings for Spiros in a way that she hasn’t before on the show, mostly due to the troubles that he is so clearly having in his marriage. That was made clear on tonight’s new episode and obviously, this puts her in a terrible position. She doesn’t want to be someone responsible for ending another relationship and with that, it’s better to keep her distance. Yet, she also realizes that eventually, the heart wants what the heart wants. She can be there for him if something happens and that could eventually bring the two closer together.
What else should you expect?
Well, think along the lines of Margo continuing to try her best in her new position of a governess — that’s not going to be an easy thing for her to take on since she doesn’t have a whole lot of experience there. Meanwhile, Gerry the animal wrangler probably needs to get a handle on all of the new additions, especially those lemurs who proved themselves a bit of a nuisance on this past episode of the series.
We’re officially at the halfway point of this season so, with that in mind, we’re at a point where every single episode will matter more and more over time. We’re especially stating that now when you think about the fact that this is the final season. One way or another, we are building towards something big, epic, and world-altering.
