Is MacGyver new tonight on CBS? The path to season 3 finale

MacGyver

Is MacGyver new tonight on CBS? If you find yourself hunting down some more scoop on the show, look no further — within this piece, we’ve got details, plot teases, and a lot of other good stuff.

Unfortunately, we do also come bearing some most-unfortunate news on the status of the show tonight: It’s not on the air. This is, however, the final hiatus of the season. Isn’t that great? Well, it kinda is, but then you remember that this means we’re really close to the finale and that brings us to one of the longest, most-unwanted hiatuses out there since we’ll be stuck sitting around and waiting until fall … provided that the show even comes back. (For the record, we’re not much of a fun of having to sit around and wait this long for renewal news — CBS tends to renew a lot of their shows at some point around now, but it just hasn’t happened yet.)

While you are waiting, within this piece it’s our goal to make things just a tiny bit easier for you! We’ve got official scoop for you on all of the remaining episodes, if you haven’t seen it already … and that includes a notable finale fronted by guest star Peter Weller, playing a character who’s basically been described already as an Evil MacGyver, someone who can do everything that Mac can but doesn’t use his powers in the same sort of benevolent manner. It’s going to be exciting, and we know already that this is a dude who’s not going to just show up in the last episode of the season. He may be twisting his metaphorical evil mustache for some time as we move forward into season 4!

Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves here — let’s just get to sharing some of those added details.

Season 3 episode 20 – “No-Go + High-Voltage + Rescue” – When two American tourists go missing while doing a “No-Go Scavenger Hunt” through some of the world’s most dangerous countries, the Phoenix team goes undercover as backpackers to find them and bring them home alive, on MACGYVER, Friday, April 26 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

This is the episode that feels the most like typical MacGyver, which is probably important to keep that tone solid as we dive deeper into the home stretch.

Season 3 episode 21 – “Treason + Heartbreak + Gum” – Matty’s ex-husband, Ethan (Brendan Hines), asks her for help when a criminal organization, S-Company, kidnaps his wife and daughter, forcing Matty to decide if she’s willing to commit treason in order to help him save his family. Also, Riley joins Billy Colton (Lance Gross) and Mama Colton (Sheryl Lee Ralph) on a mission to Paris and makes a heartbreaking discovery, on MACGYVER, Friday, May 3 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

We talk about this episode a little bit more over at this link — rest assured that we’re stoked anytime that we can see Meredith Eaton around for the bulk of an episode.

Season 3 episode 22, a.k.a. the big finale – “Mason + Cable + Choices” – MacGyver faces off with a cunning new adversary whose carefully crafted plans put Mac at the epicenter of an impossible choice: save the life of a friend, or save the lives of hundreds of innocents. Also, Mac receives new information that will drive a wedge between him and his father, on the third season finale of MACGYVER, Friday, May 10 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

If that doesn’t get your heart pounding a little bit more, we don’t know what will! There’s a fear in here that Mac and his father could end this season on bad terms, but that’s without even talking about the fact that Oversight is still sick. That has to be a part of this story in some form, right?

We’ll be back when more news is out there on all of these episodes — be nervous about the finale, sure, but excited about what else is coming every single step of the way. Check out this link if you’re intent on staying up-to-date.
