MacGyver season 3 episode 21 spoilers: Is this Matty’s riskiest mission?

MacGyver

Before MacGyver wraps up season 3, it looks like you’re going to get one more powerful Matty Webber story. For the May 3 episode — the penultimate one of the season — Brendan Hines is going to be back as her ex-husband Ethan. So far this season, we’ve seen her do everything that she can in order to help him, even though she’s heartbroken over the fact that during his time undercover with S-Company, he ended up getting re-married and had a daughter. She’s separated any sadness she feels from her work, and that’s been essential given how much he’s needed her through some missions this season. We’ve seen her do what she can in order to help him and his family relocate. Unfortunately, that seems to have been to no avail, given that S-Company is coming for them on episode 21 in a big way.

Want to know what’s happening, and how Meredith Eaton’s character could be thrust into one of the toughest spots of her career? Check out the official season 3 episode 21 synopsis below:

“Treason + Heartbreak + Gum” – Matty’s ex-husband, Ethan (Brendan Hines), asks her for help when a criminal organization, S-Company, kidnaps his wife and daughter, forcing Matty to decide if she’s willing to commit treason in order to help him save his family. Also, Riley joins Billy Colton (Lance Gross) and Mama Colton (Sheryl Lee Ralph) on a mission to Paris and makes a heartbreaking discovery, on MACGYVER, Friday, May 3 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Judging from that synopsis alone, it seems like Matty may not be the only character this season to be experiencing some pain; we’ll have to wait and see what happens there.

One of the things that, in general, we’ve appreciated about this season is that it’s made a concentrated effort to ensure that so many storylines have a solid, consistent payoff. We’ve seen bits and pieces of Matty and Ethan’s storyline throughout the season, just as there’s also been some development with Riley and Colton and then also Bozer and Leanna. Add to that the health of Mac’s father Oversight, and you’ve got a lot of stories this season with huge emotional stakes. Some of them will probably come to a head before the finale; if nothing else, the finale’s going to feature a role for Peter Weller (read more about that over here) and that’s a cause for major excitement in its own right. The best thing with a show like this is that even if there’s a lot of surrounding craziness, you should really hope that there’s a chance to see some great performances along the way. We’re getting that in between Eaton, Tristin Mays, and others.

There is, alas, no new MacGyver on the air this Friday — but there will be one coming up before too long! Check out this link if you want to grab some more details all about it!
