NCIS: Los Angeles (Kensi & Deeks) vs. Blindspot (Jane & Weller) – Crime Dynamic Duos 2019

Dynamic Duos

Welcome to CarterMatt’s Crime Dynamic Duos for 2019! The goal for this tournament is pretty easy to explain: Recognizing some of the best crime fighters in all of television. The word “crimefighter” can at times have a loose interpretation, but for the sake of this tournament, we’re referring to it mostly as cops, lawyers, or investigators who do their best to take down some pretty bad people and fight to help others. They’re the sort of characters you typically admire, and they have an aspirational quality to them along with them being entertaining.

Within this piece, we are moving into the second half of round 2! Here, we’ve got two fantastic duos who are squaring off and hoping to find their way into the top eight. They even have at least a couple of things in common: These are close partnerships that have become something so much more. In one corner, you’ve got Deeks & Kensi of NCIS: Los Angeles fame. Meanwhile, in the other you’ve got Jane & Weller from Blindspot. Only one of them is going to emerge from the pile and within this piece, we’re eager to see the process play out.

If you’ve been around for past editions of Crime Dynamic Duos, then you know a thing or two about how this works — at the bottom of this article is a poll to vote for who you want to see advance! One duo will, and at the end of the month, we’ll officially crown the champion in all of their glory.

How voting works – Vote however often you would like! (Technical instructions for multiple voting can be found right above the poll.) We will keep this poll open until Saturday, April 20 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. The winner here will be facing off against one of many different duos based on how some other showdowns shake out — we don’t think that there are going to be any easy matches for any of the duos left, so stay alert in the weeks to come!

You can see the full bracket (including start dates for each individual round) in the graphic at the top of this article.

The competitors

Deeks & Kensi, NCIS: Los Angeles (#1 seed) – We’ve stated it before, and we certainly think that it bears repeating — now is a pretty incredible time in order to be a fan of these two. They just got married earlier this year! Their personal relationship is cemented, and their professional relationship remains as exciting as you would want.

What makes Deeks & Kensi special is how they are able to come up with their own energy out in the field, one where they can be goofing around one moment and then deathly serious the next. The two have developed an incredible ability to compartmentalize and not let a lot of the violence they experience define them — even though they have had some conversations about walking away. While they do remain these awesome crime-TV heroes, we do still love the fact that they remain and feel like real people at the same time. There’s an incredible balance that has been achieved between the different parts of who they are.

Jane & Weller, Blindspot (#4 seed) – When you think about a lot of the things that Jane & Weller have going for them as characters, there really aren’t too many similarities and differences between them and then Deeks & Kensi. We’ve seen Jane & Weller have a tremendous sense of humor with each other, and there is also a sense of passion and devotion here.

What makes Jane & Weller different, of course, is the specific struggles that they face — which include some pretty darn dark and intense mythology. These two characters are forced to deal with complicated pasts, while also still finding a way to take out and deal with some large-scale threats at the FBI. The best of Jane & Weller still could be to come now that they’ve gone through so much … we just hope that we get to see it, given that the show’s future on NBC is currently in jeopardy.

How can I vote more than once? – Just refresh the page! If you are having trouble casting multiple votes, try switching your browser, your device, or visiting the page under private browsing or incognito mode. There should be many handy guides online explaining how to do so if interested.
