NCIS: Los Angeles (Deeks & Kensi) vs. Brooklyn Nine-Nine (Jake & Amy) – Crime Dynamic Duos 2019

Duos

Welcome to CarterMatt’s Crime Dynamic Duos for 2019! The goal for this tournament is pretty easy to explain: Recognizing some of the best crimefighters in all of television. The word “crimefighter” can at times have a loose interpretation, but for the sake of this tournament we’re referring to it mostly as cops, lawyers, or investigators who do their best to take down some pretty-bad people and fight to help others. They’re the sort of characters you typically admire, and they have an aspirational quality to them along with them being entertaining.

For today’s first battle, we’re taking a look at one of the most popular duos within the world of crime procedurals in Deeks & Kensi from NCIS: Los AngelesMeanwhile, they are facing off against Jake & Amy from Brooklyn Nine-Nineone of the most-noteworthy duos out there from the world of comedy. Each pairing does bring a certainly something to the table — innate likability, plus also being rather incredible at their job.

If you’ve been around for past editions of Crime Dynamic Duos, then you know a thing or two about how this works — at the bottom of this article is a poll to vote for who you want to see advance! One duo will, and at the end of the month, we’ll officially crown the champion in all of their glory.

How voting works – Vote however often you would like! (Technical instructions for multiple voting can be found right above the poll.) We will keep this poll open until Sunday, April 14 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. The winner here is going to square off against either Jane & Weller of Blindspot or Jimmy & Kim of Better Call Saul, depending of course on whichever one advances and ends up taking part in the next battle, as well.

You can see the full bracket (including start dates for each individual round) in the graphic at the top of this article.

The competitors

Deeks and Kensi, NCIS: Los Angeles (#1 seed) – Clearly, this is a pretty-remarkable time in which to be a big-time fan of either the crime procedural or these two characters, as we’re seeing the writers pack in so much constant content. Earlier this spring, “Densi” finally got married after years of anticipation, and we personally felt it to be every bit as romantic as exciting as we wanted it to be for such a long time.

We don’t want to get totally lost in the romance here, mostly because what these two have beyond this is extraordinary in its own way — they’re really good at what they do, and even when they’re out there taking out huge threats in the city, they still find a way in which to do it without losing their spirit or sense of humor. They make the best of any situation and make each other stronger.

Jake and Amy, Brooklyn Nine-Nine (#8 seed) – There are some similarities to how Jake / Amy and Deeks / Kensi operate, mostly in that they are all so good at their jobs that you would think that it was effortless. They’re that locked-in to what they do and they have such a keen understanding and awareness of what they’re good at.

Obviously, Jake and Amy love each other and their relationship is a part of what makes them endearing. But they’re also more than that. They are two people who constantly fight their way to get the job done, even if they used humor (or, in Amy’s case, organization) to make sure that they’re centered and prepared for what’s coming up down the bend.

I can’t see the poll; what do I do? – If you are on mobile, scroll to the bottom of the page and click to view the non-AMP version. If that does not work, give the poll a moment to load! On some mobile browsers, it may take a moment.

How can I vote more than once? – Just refresh the page! If you are having trouble casting multiple votes, try switching your browser, your device, or visiting the page under private browsing or incognito mode. There should be many handy guides online explaining how to do so if interested.
