‘Homeland’ season 2 spoilers: Let’s take a look ahead…
Even though Sunday night’s season premiere for “Homeland” got off to a little bit of a slow start, by the very end of it we were reminded yet again of what makes this show so stellar: the combination of the tension, the action, and the sense of mystery that seems to come from some of these characters at around each and every turn.
Almost immediately in the show’s second episode, you are going to get an even greater sense of just what we are talking about here. After making the decision to go on the run rather than potentially becoming a prisoner in Beirut, Carrie now has to find away to avoid the men hunting her while at the same time figure out just what exactly is going on with her now. Meanwhile, Brody has a much different struggle of his own here in America, as he tries to avoid revealing his true nature while at the same time getting deeper into the Vice-Presidential race. The bomb was dropped by his own daughter that he is a secret Muslim (the real kind, and not what conspiracy theorists call President Obama), but the good news so far is that nobody seems to be believing what she has to say. Luckily, it also looks as though she has no additional plans to bring it up in the near future. (As for Morena Baccarin’s character, that is a completely different story.)
Even though it is not official just yet, we also have a feeling that a third season for this show may be coming up fairly quickly based on the record-setting premiere numbers. Like with HBO, Showtime has a habit of renewing some of their series in the middle of them airing, largely because they have such a cinematic quality that it takes an extended amount of time to prepare.
Did you enjoy the premiere, and what do you want to see happening moving forward this season?
