The Walking Dead season 9 episode 15 preview: ‘The Calm Before’

Walking Dead season 8

Want to know what lies ahead on The Walking Dead season 9 episode 15? It seems as though a two-part story is in the works, and it’s going to go from very good to very bad (as most things do on this show). The first part (airing next week) is entitled “The Calm Before.” That should give you a pretty good idea as to what the finale is going to be titled — you guessed it. “The Storm.” Things are gonna get ugly, you’re going to see blood, and what’s a little bit interesting about this is mostly that it’s all going to start in peace. The communities are coming together! In theory, doesn’t that seem like a good thing? There’s been so much distrust and discord ever since we got to the other side of the flash forwards and we’re actually the closest we’ve been now to having everyone together in harmony.

Why are things inevitably going to go south? The simple answer is “this is The Walking Dead.” You’ve probably been watching the show for quite some time and you know how this formula works by now — people die and there needs to be constant conflict (also there will be a supply run or two thrown in there). The reason why there’s going to be chaos now is a little more complex though and may have to do with the Whisperers as well as longstanding conflicts. This is a crazy, dangerous world and with there being so many years we didn’t see, some wounds could be harder to trace than we’d imagine.

For some more information regarding The Walking Dead season 9 episode 15, check out the attached synopsis:

The fair at the Kingdom is underway, with all four communities coming together in celebration for the first time in years; while some pacts are renewed, other deals will come at a much steeper price.

We know that the chaos is coming — we get it. With this spelled out, can we at least get about ten or fifteen minutes of people having fun? We really want to see what a Walking Dead fair looks like, given that this is one of the few times in this world where people have actually come together with enough supplies to actually do something fun. It’s not just about surviving; instead, it’s about thriving much like Carl envisioned for everyone before the show decided to kill him off (if you can’t tell we will be forever salty about this).

The finale isn’t the final one of the series (we know that a season 10 is coming down the line), but it still needs to make an impact. It needs to make the entire journey of this incredibly strange and disjointed season worthwhile. We’ve noted this before, but this season really feels like a pair of disjointed seasons in between the time with Andrew Lincoln and also the time without it.
