Let’s get the bad news pertaining to Law & Order: SVU season 20 out of the way now: There is no new episode on the air tonight. The show’s taking a breather until March 14, when you will have an episode where a kidnapping takes center stage.

For now, we’re going to look a little bit further ahead. Per a new report via TVLineBosch star Titus Welliver will be appearing on the upcoming March 21 episode of the series as an NYPD attorney by the name of Rob Miller. Why is he there? That is one of the subjects that you are likely left to wonder over the next few weeks. If there’s an attorney, after all, doesn’t that mean that an officer is in trouble?

There are so many fascinating things to think about with this in mind. Imagine that you are going to see a case in which one of your favorite SVU officers finds themselves in trouble and needs help from someone other than Stone to get them out of a bind. Or, maybe Benson is forced to investigate another officer and Miller finds himself representing this said person. Or, what if Miller is at the center of a case himself? Just because he does hold such a highly-regarded position within the NYPD does not render him completely and utterly immune of speculation and thought.

For those of you who are thinking “hey, haven’t we seen Titus Welliver before on SVU,” the answer is that you have. This is far from the only occurrence in which a veteran actor is appearing on the show in multiple roles. Heck, it’s not even the only time that we’ve seen it through season 20! Jennifer Esposito, who recently appeared on the show in a significant role, had appeared on the franchise in the fact. It actually wasn’t that long ago that Welliver appeared in another edition of the greater Dick Wolf universe, as he played Ronald Booth in an episode of Chicago PD back in 2018. Maybe this would be a little bit more problematic if these two shows were crossing paths often, but that’s not really a priority these days. It’s been over a year since the two series crossed paths with one another, and SVU seems to be content to do its own thing — which of course involves telling magnificent stories that are relevant to the world today.

If you missed it, earlier today we also reported that the latest season of Bosch is going to be arriving on Amazon in April — what this means is that you’re going to see a lot of awesome Titus-related content within a very short period of time.
