A Million Little Things finale spoilers: Who is Barbara Morgan?

A Million Little Things

Come Thursday night, the A Million Little Things finale will be coming up over on ABC … and we certainly expect it to be emotional. Heck, by the end of it you’ll probably need to go out to get more tissues after burning through the box you already have. This will be an emotional episode, without a doubt, and one that tests some of these characters in some different ways from how they’ve been challenged before.

No doubt, entering this final episode there are major questions that you have about Barbara — including who she is. We know that the search for her is going to creep into several moments in the finale; by the end, it’s possible that so much more could be revealed, including her connection to Jon and what this means to the entire group’s future. One thing that we are trying to keep in mind at the moment is that identity and purpose are two different things. While we do think that it’s possible that we will learn the truth about Barbara Morgan, that doesn’t mean you’ll understand everything about her. This could just lead to a larger mystery that defines the upcoming second season. Commence preparing to unhinge your jaw.

Then, there is also this to consider — some other mysteries may surface elsewhere. Speaking via TV Guide, executive producer DJ Nash had the following to say:

“Just when you think you know someone, you don’t. That’s been something that has been a theme of my life, and it’s certainly been a theme of the first season of the show … And I think just when you think you know what a couple’s dealing with or going through, or just when you think you know what a person’s going through, you don’t. So in this finale, we’ll see many card flips that way, where you’re so sure a story is leading one way, and we’re going to take it a different way.”

This is not only quintessential A Million Little Things, but this is also true to life. Almost anytime that you think you know where things are going, something comes up that throws you for a loop. The best thing you can do is be prepared for the unexpected; people don’t always turn out as you want. This show will reflect that, while also provide you a little bit of signature escapism at the same time.

Probably the most challenging part of the finale will be the aftermath of it. Season 1 will propel you into season 2, and you’re going to have to sit around for a good seven or so months in order to see it. That’s one of the curses of this show having such a short run compared to a number of other new shows on the air this year.

Come tomorrow, hopefully, we will be back with new episodes.
