Death in Paradise season 8 finale spoilers: Murder at the police station

Next week, the Death in Paradise season 8 finale is coming to BBC One, and this case could hit home a little closer than most. How else would you describe a case that takes place at the same spot Jack and the rest of the team often call home?

We don’t want to bury the lead here — CarterMatt has the Death in Paradise season 8 finale synopsis for you below with some more details:

A horse-trekking expedition is cut short when Jack discovers the dead body of a rider in the most unexpected of places – the police station itself.

Is it possible that someone amidst the team has been killed off? We have to consider that a possibility, largely due to the fact that the show has been quick to write off important characters before. Patrice was killed of a little earlier this season, which led to Florence’s decision to depart from Saint Marie. It’s almost with that story in mind though, that it feels almost too cruel to write off another important person from the show right now. It’s possible that the dead body isn’t someone from the police force — after all, there are some other people who do come to the station here and there!

As for whether or not there will be a season 9 of Death in Paradise moving forward, there isn’t anything 100% confirmed just yet … but we’re going to continue to be hopeful. We know that we’d like to see more of the show and we certainly think that Death in Paradise is the sort of program that could go on for many more years. It mostly just depends on how satisfied BBC One is with the show’s performance and how much life they still feel is there in the tank for the show as a whole. We’ll have some more coverage on that in the near future. Typically networks make decisions on the future of their shows within a few weeks of the respective finales airing.

For the time being, though, let’s focus on the finale. We’re hoping that it is going to end in some sort of big, dramatic way and that it also does set the tone for a season 9. It doesn’t need a cliffhanger ending in order to do that, but it should at the very least leave us wanting more … whenever that may be.
