Chicago PD season 6 episode 16 spoilers: Voight’s political dilemma

Chicago PD season 6

For most of Chicago PD season 6, we’ve seen Hank Voight wrestle with a fairly precarious situation — trying to find a way to grapple with political cases that are thrown into his direction. It’s not the easiest thing in the world for him to deal with, mostly because he understandably feels like it compromises his viewpoint. It’s even harder when one of the primary candidates for Mayor is Kelton, who of course is leading the charge at the Chicago Police Department. Another, in Ray Price, is someone he’s butted heads with on occasion in the past.

So what could be causing Voight to rethink his strategy? Below, CarterMatt has the official Chicago PD season 6 episode 16 synopsis with some more news as to what’s coming up:

02/27/2019 (10:00 PM – 11:00 PM) (Wednesday): Voight’s (Jason Beghe) “stay out of politics” stance is challenged as Intelligence uncovers the details surrounding a prolific serial killer.

Our feeling on a lot of this has been pretty simple for a good while now: Voight will work within politics if it’s for the good of the city. We think that he’s going to go after a serial killer if it means helping the greater good. Why wouldn’t he? The last thing that Voight wants is for his city to be in dire straights. What he’ll just have to do is focus on the job and steer clear of some of the press-conferences that come after the fact, given that there are a lot of people out there who are going to be interested in using Intelligence’s achievements for their personal gain.

The thing that we have to realize is that inevitably, not everything is going to go Voight’s way — they rarely do at this point in the season. By the end of season 6, we have a good feeling that things are going to get even messier for him and the rest of unit, as cops could find themselves compromised and with their jobs on the line. While we like to think that Intelligence manages to get out of every situation one way or another, the journey is pretty darn hard to get to that point. This season shouldn’t be any different.
