Come The Resident season 2 episode 15 on CBS Sunday night, we’re going to have a chance to meet Dr. Josephine Okeke.
With that being said … who is she? What does Dr. Okeke bring to the table? Well, for starters she is an extremely famous surgeon, someone who is really responsible (per Dr. Bell and Dr. Austin) for revamping the entire health-care landscape in all of rural Nigeria. She’s extremely qualified, very smart, and the sort of woman who just about everyone at the hospital admires. She also just so happens to be the mother of Dr. Mina Okafor.
In the sneak peek below, you have an opportunity to see Dr. Okeke’s arrival to Chastain and there are a couple of interesting things about it. For starters, it is incredibly rare to see someone who seems to have Dr. Bell starstruck to a certain degree … and it’s also very interesting that Mina hadn’t told anyone who her mother was. Why keep that information a secret from everyone? It’s an interesting thing to think about, and we certainly want to think that there is a good reason for it. A part of it may just be her not wanting to be judged. Another part of it may just be that the relationship between the two is a little bit unclear.
Hopefully, this episode is going to give you a few different answers as to the relationship between these characters. If nothing else, it’s going to be nice to explore a little bit more of Mina’s past. One of the reasons why we don’t know a whole lot about it is simply because she is so focused on the job. This episode should mark a chance to somewhat correct that … but we don’t exactly think that she’s going to be an open book on the other side of it, either. We’re just hoping that at some point during this hour, we’ll break a few of the walls down … even if they go back up.
If nothing else, the one thing that does feel super-guaranteed at the moment is that we’re going to be seeing Bell and AJ off their game — that’s always going to be something that we appreciate.
