Is Hawaii Five-0 new tonight on CBS, and who’s a mermaid?

Is Hawaii Five-0 new tonight on CBS? It would be nice if it was, given that cold-weather seasons are one of the best times to dive into this show. You get to have a little bit of fun, and actually escape from some of the frigid temperatures of the rest of the world.

Unfortunately, the bad news at the moment is clear — there is no new episode of the show tonight, as CBS is going to be airing a two-hour Celebrity Big Brother instead. This is the final Friday where this reality show is even going to be on the air, so at least you don’t have to worry anywhere near as much about this preempting the procedural series for a while.

Hawaii Five-0 will be back on the air come Friday, February 15, but for the sake of this article, we’re actually looking a little bit beyond that! Above is one of your first looks at one of the two episodes airing on February 22 (there are two airing back to back, starting at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time), and it features none other than Tani Rey (Meaghan Rath) as a mermaid. Is this the Hawaii Five-0 / Siren crossover nobody knew that they needed? We aren’t going to go that far, but this is at least a rather-fun photo that suggests that there will be some lighthearted moments amidst all of the craziness.

In the end, some of this fun stuff is a big part of what makes this show as great as it is — these are opportunities to really dive into the culture and the style of Hawaii, and to be able to celebrate the place in a way that we don’t always have a chance to see when there are cases and drama going down. Given that Tani’s worked as a lifeguard and has plenty of experience in the water, we’re pretty sure that there is no one better suited for this particular role than her.
