One Day at a Time season 4 renewal hopes for Netflix comedy
One thing that you certainly have to be aware of when it comes to Netflix is that they don’t often issue renewals in advance of premieres unless it is for an extremely high-value series that tends to get a lot of attention ahead of time. This is a comedy, and with that in mind, Netflix tends to be a little bit more patient. What they know that they have in One Day at a Time is a critically acclaimed series, one that has a dedicated audience. It’s not necessarily the most mainstream comedy that they have in this era, but it is one that can spread easily thanks to good word-of-mouth.
In the end, there is no reason to be anything other than confident in the future of the show. As a matter of fact, it feels like there would be a revolt in the event that Netflix canceled it. If not that, then there is a legitimate chance someone else could end up picking it up. That’s not something that we’ve seen a lot of with Netflix shows that come to a close, but this could be an exception rather than the rule. The enthusiasm that is out there is just on that level.
It does still feel like one day at a time has a little bit of a life left on the streaming service, mostly because we were just talking about season three right now. While we have seen that scripted shows on Netflix do not last forever, most of them do have a reasonable life of four or five seasons at least. Fuller House, for example, is ending with its upcoming fifth season. If One Day at a Time follows that mold, then it is at least going to be around for a little while longer.
Ultimately, we’re just going to have to wait and see how long One Day at a Time will last, but there’s no reason to be anything other than confident with the immediate future. Netflix typically renews most of their shows within a few months of them coming on their service, so that’s a fair expectation to when you could hear some sort of announcement as to what lies ahead.
