Grey’s Anatomy season 15 spoilers: Michelle Forbes set to appear

According to a new report from TVLine, the former The Killing star is going to be appearing in at least one upcoming episode. As for details on the role, ABC’s staying mum … not that this should be all that much of a shock. Of course, it’s easy to speculate that she could be playing Jo’s mother — that was the initial discussion generated from Grey’s casting, but it actually makes a little bit more sense here. Forbes bears more of a resemblance to Camilla Luddington and we do think that this casting would make a certain degree of sense.
The idea of doing an episode about Jo and her family would be coming at a good time right now, largely because of the fact that she’s been a little under-the-radar when it comes to major stories as of late. The last major one that we had with her was probably earlier this season with the honeymoon — both after the wedding and then also the second attempt at one during the windstorm. It’s a part of her past that’s worthy of being explored and we certainly know that Forbes (whose credits also include Berlin Station and Chicago Fire) is more than capable of going toe-to-toe with any actor out there.
No matter who she ends up playing, the thing that we hope for with Grey’s Anatomy guest spots more so than anything else is that they challenge the established characters and allow us a chance to see and experience something new. We do recognize that this is not a super common occurrence though, largely due to the fact that this show has been on a good decade and a half. It’s a little bit harder to surprise us at this point than when it was on back during some of the earlier days of the series. There are just so many things at this point that Grey’s Anatomy has already covered, but the show has found a way to keep things fresh and keeping telling us new stories.
