‘Glee’ season 4 spoilers: One promise from the ‘Grease’ musical

In case you missed our earlier article about what is coming up on “Glee” a little bit later this season, the cast is going to be performing a musical in “Grease” similar to what they did last fall with “West Side Story.” It looks as though Marley is going to be playing Sandy and Blaine will be Danny, but the evidence of that is just based on Ryan Murphy TwitPics and this could be misleading.

So what do we know for sure about the musical? That one of the most-popular songs in its history is going to be performed. In a new post on Twitter, executive producer Ryan Murphy confirmed that “Grease Lightning” will be a part of the show, and it will be done in a way that will both surprise and delight people.

The other element of this that Murphy did confirm is that this version of the hit song will not be covered by the Warblers, but this was really hardly a surprise to begin with given that we don’t even know for sure when the Dalton Academy gang is going to be back this year. There are no plans at the moment for Grant Gustin to return as Sebastian, so we don’t know if their role is going to be just limited to coming on stage at Regionals in order to perform just a song or two. Of course the group will be a part of the season, as Murphy and the show would be silly to not capitalize in part on how popular the Warblers are and how many downloads they sell on iTunes.

Are you excited to see what happens with this musical?
