Outlander season 4 finale photos (part 3): Caitriona Balfe & John Bell

The Outlander season 4 finale will be streaming on the Starz app in under 48 hours, and that is a tremendous cause of excitement. (We of course say this now and will be incredibly sad when it actually wraps up and we are stuck in another droughtlander.) This article is the final photo preview of the season, and that alone is sad since we’ve had so much fun discussing the show photos over the past few months.

The focus of these photos is of the interactions between Claire and Young Ian to members of the Mohawk — after all, Shadow Lake will be at the center of one of the episode’s biggest crisis as we’re set to learn if Claire, Jamie, and Young Ian can successfully free Roger.

If you were to just look at the photo above featuring Caitriona Balfe’s character and some members of the tribe, you would think that the negotiations between the parties are peaceful. It seems as though Claire is trying to reassure the person she is speaking to, and it doesn’t seem as though the members of the tribe around her are reacting violently to her actions.

Unfortunately, we think this photo of John Bell as Young Ian proves that things are not necessarily going to be super-peaceful; it appears as though Ian may have to defend himself, and it doesn’t seem like all that much of a fair fight given that he is surrounded. In general, this could be the most important episode for this character that we’ve seen. We know that he cares for Brianna (as in, he really cares for Brianna), and he does bear the brunt of responsibility for Roger being sold to the Mohawk. There are other things that he could have done with him after Jamie told him to do with away with him following the incident earlier this season.

So what could Young Ian do in order to ensure that Roger is brought back to the woman he loves? This is a chance for him to get some element of absolution, and the choices that he makes in this episode could be game-changing to the series at large.

While this final photo doesn’t offer much in the way of spoilers, this does mark a chance to praise the tremendous work of Terry Dresbach and her team. This is her final episode in her role (she announced her departure last year), and she’s done a magnificent job across several eras and cultures. May we say that Outlander is one of the most-difficult shows to costume out there, but she always finds a way to make it work.
