Suits season 8 episode 12 preview: Tension mounts with Alex, Samantha

Next week, Suits season 8 episode 12 is going to bring you a story entitled “Whale Hunt,” and there is definitely going to be some serious tension. Yet, it’s tension in a different sort of way than what you’ve seen in the past. It’s more about familial tension and it’s less of the typical sort of conflict that you’ve seen on the show in the past.

Louis learns the finer points of managing Harvey. Alex is caught between Samantha and his wife.

The story with Alex Williams at the moment intrigues us greatly, largely because we’re talking about someone here who can differentiate himself rather easily from the field. Alex is really the only person within the world of Suits who has a spouse and a young family; Robert Zane of course has Rachel, but she was already grown up at the time in which the show started. Having Samantha push him in one direction and his wife in another is going to put Alex in a tough position; obviously, he should choose his wife, but we know that Samantha Wheeler has a tendency to not make life easy on anyone.

As for Louis, managing Harvey is where the difficulty is going to come for him — he admires Harvey. In a lot of ways, he’s envied him throughout the season. We don’t think that he’s in that place anymore given that he has some things that Harvey doesn’t, but at the same time, those remnants of their past relationships are still there. Louis cares about his friends and doesn’t want to make Harvey mad at him; yet, he’s going to have to realize more moving forward that he does have to be the boss. We love having him as managing partner just because it frees up Harvey to do more of what he does best, while putting Louis in an opportunity where he can take care of more issues at the firm itself. There’s a lot to love about the remaining five episodes based on what’s been established; it’s really all about the payoff at this point.
