Is NCIS new tonight? The wait for season 16 episode 13 (new photo)

NCIS

Is NCIS new tonight? It’d certainly be nice if it was, mostly because we know there’s some big stuff ahead with season 16 episode 13.

Unfortunately, you’re going to be waiting for a little while in order to see the next installment of the show as this episode is not currently slated to air on CBS until we get around to early February (February 5, to be more specific), and the reasoning for that is twofold. When it comes to tonight, the show is being preempted to make way for a new episode of Celebrity Big Brother. Following that, the show will not air next week, more than likely, due to the State of the Union Address. We recognize that there is still some debate as to whether or not the address will actually happen this year, but for the time being we’d say that CBS wants to stay prepared for it.

Even if the address does not air, don’t expect CBS to change their plan here. February 5 is the first Tuesday of February sweeps, an important period for ratings. With that in mind, networks are going to be doing whatever they can to stack a lot of big hitter programming for that day. Expect to see a lot of big episodes throughout the first few weeks of the month, and then also some repeats leading into it.

As for what you can expect to see on NCIS when it returns, be prepared for an episode like really no other this season in “She.” As we’ve already reported over at the link here, this episode will tell the story of a case from Ziva David’s past — Bishop (pictured above from this episode) will end up finding her old case files, and there’s going to be some sort of specific reason why it’s being brought to the forefront now. Ziva was invested in this said case more than most, so there’s a chance that we may learn something more about her even if she does not appear.

For the record, we are still keeping our theory that Ziva may be alive, even if we don’t end up seeing her on the show again. We’re still bummed over the exit of Cote de Pablo — hard not to be.

Beyond this episode, be prepared for more big cases that will hopefully push Gibbs and the remainder of the team to the limit. With a show like NCIS, they do want to keep the stories as fresh as they can – after 16 seasons on the air they have to keep people invested.
