Sugar season 2 episode 2 cliffhanger: Is John Sugar dead?

We had a feeling that Sugar season 2 episode 2 would give us some sort of big reveal — however, how could you ever expect that?

In the concluding moments of the latest installment of the Apple TV series starring Colin Farrell, we saw none other than John Sugar himself get shot in the midst of trying to unravel the latest wrinkle on his case. It was a reminder that despite his determination to find Ji Moon, there are also those who do not want him found. Could this include Ji himself? Or, are there a lot of people who don’t want some vast criminal organization exposed? There are a lot of endless possibilities at this given point in time.

No matter who actually shot Sugar at this point, one thing does feel reasonably clear: It is hard to imagine him being killed off. This is a show that is all about him! If he was a normal human (as opposed to an alien), there is a good chance he would be a goner; yet, there may still be a way that he survives, whether it be thanks to his extraterrestrial status or someone coming in at the last second to help him.

At the moment, there is one larger question that we do have to wonder: Will this experience cause Sugar to back away at all from what he is doing with Ji’s case? There are arguments to be made but if there is one attribute we would use to describe him, it is “relentless.” This is someone who really wants to do almost everything in his power to ensure justice is served in his own way. He may not be perfect, but he does want to do as many good things as we can for other people.
