House of the Dragon season 3 episode 6: More on Aemond, Alys?
As we look more towards House of the Dragon season 3 episode 6 on HBO, it does feel like Aemond is going to have a fairly important role. However, what exactly will that be? Consider that a mystery the show is still trying to tease with him at Harrenhal.
After all, Ewan Mitchell’s character was off-screen for a certain amount of time as he recovered from what happened at the castle. Alys has presumably been nursing him back to help, and is she seeing her own end goal through him? It feels fair to say so, but things may evolve in unexpected ways. It also remains to be seen what is going on right now within Aemond’s own mind.

To try and get a better picture of all of this for a moment, though, why not turn to Mitchell himself? Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, the actor made a rather interesting superhero comparison when discussing where his character is at now:
“We know his dragon Vhagar is missing … And if Aemond is nothing without his dragon, then does he really deserve her? We’ve got to challenge what we know of the character already … Vhagar was the wind in his sails … With great power comes great responsibility to wield that power,” Mitchell says. “He’s got to be able to show he can control it effectively. That’s what he wanted to prove throughout Season 1 and 2.
“It’s just like ‘Spider-Man 2.’ I find it really interesting building up this character over two seasons to bring him back down.”
Ultimately, we think that Aemond’s story is at a curious spot for many reasons, starting with the fact that he clearly loves his mother (perhaps too much), but will likely be furious over Rhaenyra being Queen and her role in it. How does he reconcile all of that long-term? That’s without even getting into the Ormund of it all…
