Supergirl season 4 episode 11 preview: Visiting Nia Nal’s hometown

Nia Nal

When Supergirl season 4 episode 11 airs on The CW next week, there will be a different feel to the story. After all, we’re moving the setting to a different place and with that, also getting an opportunity to see something totally new when it comes to Nia Nal. We’re going to understand more of where she comes from — which, in turn, should help us understand even more of who she is as a person.

Below, CarterMatt has the official Supergirl season 4 episode 11 synopsis with some more news as to what’s coming up next:

KATE BURTON GUEST STARS; NIA AND KARA VISIT NIA’S HOMETOWN – Kara (Melissa Benoist) joins Nia (Nicole Maines) on a trip to Nia’s hometown to visit her family during the town’s annual Harvest Festival. While home, Nia’s mother (guest star Kate Burton) encourages her daughter to embrace her destiny. Meanwhile, Alex (Chyler Leigh) deals with a street drug that is turning people violent and giving them temporary superpowers. Shannon Kohli directed the episode written by Jessica Queller & Dana Horgan (#411). Original airdate 1/27/2019.

The obvious appeal here comes in learning more about Nia — if she is going to become Dreamer a little bit later on in this season and if we’re meant to be super-invested in her, it absolutely does make sense that we spend a little bit more time in her head and understand more of where she comes from. Also, we’re certainly not sad about getting to see Scandal alum Kate Burton on this show.

As for what’s ahead for Alex, the obvious appeal with this storyline on our end is that it provides an easy opportunity to be able to understand a little bit more how she’s going to handle a superhuman crisis in National City without Kara around. This is a real test of the DEO’s resources, and we’re excited to see it — largely because we’re very much excited to see Alex have some major spotlight stories in the second half of the season. It doesn’t feel like something we got anywhere near enough of in the first part.

Of course, odds are that there will be even more big stories coming for a few different characters that aren’t even teased here — just be sure to keep that in mind.
