Outlander season 4 episode 12 preview: All ‘Providence’ expectations

Outlander

Tomorrow on Starz, Outlander season 4 episode 12 will be here, and it feels safe to say there’s a lot worth watching out for. With “Providence” being the penultimate episode of the season, there are a number of important stories to hint on — and some could even be slightly resolved as we build towards an epic finale.

In this article, we want to do our part to list out our expectations for all important characters — and there’s many of them worth discussing leading into this episode.

Jamie, Claire, and Young Ian – While we expect them to make it to Shadow Lake in the finale, they may not arrive there until the end of the episode tomorrow, if that. We’re honestly not expecting the most eventful storyline from the trio Sunday, but that intuition may be a misdirection on the part of Starz’s marketing department. We know that their story will escalate at the end of the season, so we’re keeping that in our back pocket for now.

Roger – He’s going to do what he can to formulate an escape plan, but if he thought escaping from the Mohawk was tough on the road, it’s even tougher at the people’s home base. There may not be a way for him to even get out of their village, let alone back in the wilderness.

Brianna and Lord John – The two of them may work together in order to get Brianna in front of Stephen Bonnet, where she could get a chance to have vengeance over what happened to her at the start of the season. Yet, one thing to wonder about is simply this: Will this vengeance satisfy her? It’s not intentional that the promo for this episode heavily featured some advice from Jamie to his daughter on the subject of revenge.

Fergus and Marsali – This is their biggest episode of the season as they work into overdrive in order to try to save Murtagh. They’re not going to have a lot of help with some other important characters indisposed, so let’s hope their experiences from the past season or so (or really, Fergus’ entire life) prove quite valuable.

Murtagh – Don’t give up. There may not be a whole lot more he can do within his current situation, but he has to find a way to keep hope alive … and maybe stall the authorities, if he can.
