Saturday Night Live promo: Rachel Brosnahan solves a mystery

This promo features the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star working to solve a mystery, one that is haunting her like it would any classic gumshoe: Where in the world is the cast? Why is the studio so empty? It’s a real conundrum!
Or … actually it’s not all that much of a mystery at all. At the end of the promo Kenan Thompson shows up and tells Brosnahan that it’s Sunday, which is a pretty reasonable explanation for why nobody’s there. The funniest part of this promo, at least for us, is hearing Kenan say that he’s only allowed to leave the studio on a made-up day, which means in turn that he’s cursed to forever be there. This is a good commentary as to why he’s been on the show for so long.
What sort of sketches are we going to see?
We feel like it’s almost a given that we’re going to see some sort of Mrs. Maisel spoof, just because the Amazon series is so popular and feel like the writers will take advantage of the biggest claim to fame the actress has. Beyond just that, we think that almost anything is going to be possible since she seems to be open to poke fun at herself. Brosnahan was a character actor long before landing this role and we think that she’s the sort of person who will be up for anything — she’ll have zero problem being either the crazy character in a sketch or the person that just keeps the story going.
Of course, because so many weeks have passed (plus the government shutdown) since this past episode, we have to think that this is going to be an important part of the episode, as well. Expect something about that in the cold open, and then also Weekend Update. We’re just interested in seeing what happens if the shutdown randomly ends before the end of the episode.
