The Vampire Lestat season 3 episode 5: More on the ‘rebellion’

As we get prepared in order to see The Vampire Lestat season 3 episode 5 on AMC this coming weekend, what more can we say about it?

Obviously, a good chunk of the story ahead can be framed by the closing scene with Lestat and Gabriella, with the former deciding to continue his rock-star ways despite an assassination attempt. This is clearly someone still trying to do whatever he wants, though it feels equally clear that there could be some seismic consequences to that. The Great Conversion could be coming and at this point, do we even have to say what some of the consequences of that could be? Let’s just say that in the end, we are looking at something potentially severe.

Of course, we do not think that Lestat is 100% numb to the dangers of him continuing down this road. Yet, he may not think it is as severe as some suggest and beyond that, there is also at least some appeal in trying to spite Armand. In speaking on this further to The Wrap, here is what Sam Reid himself had to say:

“Because Armand is like the mouthpiece for this sort of weird vampire cult, and how you live and how we operate, you know, they give each other meaning. Then, Lestat has something to rebel against … Then, he is a rebellion. Then, he is a character that can create change. You can’t create change if everyone’s on your side.”

Ultimately, we do wonder if there is a middle ground between Armand’s way of thinking and the Great Conversion. Then again, if there truly is, are we looking at the right spokesperson for the job in Lestat? It is hard to feel that way.
