Game of Thrones season 8: Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke on possible Jon, Daenerys aftermath

JonerysAs we move into Game of Thrones season 8, there are a number of important stories that need to be addressed — take, for example, the battle to save the entire humor race.

Of course, there are also some smaller stories that matter on an important level, as well, with one of the biggest ones being how Daenerys and Jon Snow are going to handle the fact that they are technically related … even though neither of them knows it. Technically, Daenerys is Jon’s aunt and given the history of incest that is within House Targeryan already, it’s going to be difficult for her to grapple the news if it comes her way.

In speaking about this hypothetical situation via TV Insider, Emilia Clarke herself had the following to say about it:

“Daenerys’s lifelong dream has been to avenge her family and claim her rightful seat on the Iron Throne … She truly loves Jon. Were she to find out about his title, it would cut deep.”

Would it ruin their relationship altogether? It’s possible, but one way or another it doesn’t seem like Jon would keep the truth a secret just for the sake of the relationship. Here’s what Kit Harington had to say on the subject:

“Jon is someone who plays by the book. He cannot lie … Finding out about Dany would be very hard for him.”

So these two would more than likely have to take a look at their future if they were to learn the news … but it certainly also does seem like they’ve got some other priorities at the moment. Trying to stop the White Walker army is a good distraction from thinking about your personal life for an extended period of time. There’s not even a guarantee that the two of them will survive the battle to come. One of the things that we’ve seen, time and time again, with this show is that death is inevitable. Since we’re gearing up for the final showdown, it feels even clearer than ever before that there is probably going to be a trail of dead bodies on the other side.

For us as viewers, waiting still remains the hardest part, given that Game of Thrones season 8 will not be premiering on HBO until we get around to April. We do at least now that we’re in the same calendar year now, which we like to think is good news — HBO clearly does, as well, given that they recently trolled people on social media about it.

More news on the final season is likely to come over the next couple of months, but we don’t imagine actual answers on this until the show airs.
