HBO trolls Game of Thrones fans with a season 8 reminder

Ballers season 3

Given that today is the first day of 2019, HBO decided that this would be the perfect day to have a little bit of fun at the expense of some of their viewers. So what did they do? Well, consider it using social media for the sake of some next-level trolling.

If you haven’t seen it yet, just check out the post via Twitter below for evidence! This is HBO clearly opting to have a little bit of fun with some of their viewers, while also posting a reminder that, at its core, is rather factual. There is, after all, new episodes of Game of Thrones this year and there’s a pretty substantial reason to rejoice over that.

In general, though, we would argue that there are many reasons to celebrate HBO in 2019 — this may be one of the biggest years for the network as a whole. We already know that new seasons of Big Little Lies and True Detective are coming this year, and that goes along with getting the much-anticipated final season of Veep plus also another season of Barry. There is a LOT of great stuff coming over the next few months and we’re excited to see a good bit of it.

Beyond just this, we also know that there are a lot of great things on the pipeline. This includes of course the much-anticipated new version of Watchmen, though there is no approximate premiere date for that. There is also the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel series that is set to air probably in 2020 or some other point down the road. In order for that to be successful, it more or less goes without saying that the final season of Game of Thrones will need to be successful. It needs to set the stage for whatever sort of exciting stuff we’re going to see down the road.

When will HBO release the latest Game of Thrones trailer?

In response to the tweet below, we know that there are many people demanding something more from the premium-cable network. Yet, at the same time we’re not getting all that much of a firm update on that right now. We know that new episodes are launching in April, which to us means that the first trailer will likely launch either later this month or in early February. There’s no real reason for the network to hurry things along; they probably just want to create the biggest spectacle possible.
