Celebrity Big Brother 2 debate: When could the cast be revealed?

Odds are, you won’t be waiting too long in order to see the next crop of houseguests officially unveiled for the CBS show — though, at the same time, there probably isn’t going to be any news coming over the holidays. Last season, the cast for Celebrity Big Brother was officially confirmed a little over a week before the show officially premiered. Is there any reason to change that up too much this time around? Probably not.
As a matter of fact, it may not even be possible for Celebrity Big Brother to even announce the cast earlier than that, largely because you have to get some of these people into sequester, or even filming at the start of the season, before news starts to trickle out. With a show like this, casting has a tendency to be a little bit more volatile. Someone may say that they want to be a part of the show, only to back away from that down the road for a plethora of different reasons. Meanwhile, it’s also just as possible that casting may not have the official list finalized until the very last minute.
We’ve really come to realize over time that it’s better to not go completely crazy over a reality TV cast when you see them announced — after all, you don’t know at that point how they are going to play the game! It’s better to give them a little bit of time and see how the game plays out. Even if this cast has fewer famous people than you’d like (which feels possible), it still could prove to be very entertaining. We’d certainly argue that the first season of the show was significantly more fascinating than we thought it would be going in, and for a wide array of reasons including some solid gameplay, a little bit of drama, and then pure comedy like the house refusing to get rid of Metta World Peace for a while even when he wanted to leave the game.
