Grey’s Anatomy season 15: Who will be Meredith’s next love interest?

At the end of the most-recent episode, DeLuca made it clear that he was ready to put his feelings for the character out there. Meanwhile, Link has certainly done the same. These two men come from different backgrounds and certainly have their own things that they bring to the table. Yet, at the end of everything, only one of them is going to end up being the right person for Ellen Pompeo’s character — at least for the time being. In the world of Grey’s Anatomy, it’s certainly clear that nothing is permanent.
Speaking on the subject via TVLine, show executive producer Krista Vernoff made it very clear that moving forward, there won’t be any other competition for Meredith’s heart — it’s really just down to these two contenders:
“Her dating adventure has boiled down to [that] triangle … I can’t reveal more than that.”
Vernoff does add that there is more to learn about some of these possible love interests than what is out there, and it’s fair to wonder if any of that is going to influence Meredith’s final decision. This doesn’t feel like something that she needs to rush into, mostly because it’s taken this long into the season for all of the cards to be on the table for both characters. This is something that could be fun to watch play out over the next few weeks, though I do think at the same time that it would benefit Grey’s Anatomy a little bit if there is some sort of decision that comes out on the subject before the end of the season. That way, you have at least a little bit of time to see what the two characters together is actually like and if they actually work as a couple. Sometimes, romances take some time to properly work out and for viewers to actually respond to them.
So long as the relationship doesn’t get too weighty and over-the-top, it’s an easy thing to endorse. After everything that Meredith has been through on this series, doesn’t the timing feel right for her to just have a little bit of fun? It certainly feels that way from this vantage point.
