Leading up to the Gotham season 5 premiere on Fox in the new year, the network has decided to reveal a first look at the new cast — and it’s quite glorious.

As you can see above (via TV Insider), we’ve got everyone from Bruce (David Mazouz) to Oswald (Robin Lord Taylor) to Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) rocking what is the first of at least two final-season looks as we get ready for the final stage of the Batman origin story. Much of the final season is going to chronicle the story of the city in complete disarray, where criminals rule separate factions and there is no clear hope that the city will ever be completely rebuilt again as it once was. By the end of the season, we’re going to also see something else rather different — a look into the future. The series finale will jump forward so that you can actually see most of the show’s reach their true destiny. You will have Bruce, for example, finally sporting the cowl of Batman, while Oswald will be sporting his famous monocle and top hat. This is a show that has taken a few liberties here and there with the source material, but in the end, we do think that they want to honor its fundamental story.

There is still one other important question here that many a diehard Gotham fan should be wondering at present — where in the world is Tabitha? Rest assured, the character is still a part of the series, but for whatever reason she was not included in this promotional photo. Meanwhile, Cameron Monaghan will be back as Jeremiah, but he has never been considered a regular and with that, it’s no shock to see him MIA. The same goes for some other characters who could turn up in the final season including Firefly, Mr. Freeze, or even Bane, who is going to be played by Shane West. There are going to be opportunities for them to make their presence felt, but they don’t have to be in this photo in order for that to happen.

Gotham is now at work behind the scenes on their final episode of production, which is being written by Ben McKenzie (Jim) and directed by Erin Richards (Barbara). We should note that this episode will not be the final one to air, as there are a couple of stories being filmed out of order that could also prove to be somewhat standalone in nature. Fox ordered two extra episodes of Gotham fairly late in production, so with that in mind it’s going to be kind of curious to see where they fit in a story that may have otherwise already been plotted out. (What is fun about this is that this current episode is the 100th one of the series! That’s a pretty darn good way to end things.)
