For Jamie and Claire, one of the big things that they’re going to struggle with is trying to make sure that there is some peace between some local settlers and also the Native American people of the region. The main point of the conflict appears to be water and who has ownership of it. The Cherokee are accused of stealing water, but their response here is rather clear: “Water belongs to no one.” Their rage over the issue is understandable, given that they’ve grown accustomed to a very particular way of life over the past several centuries only for some new people to turn up, start claiming land, and then act as though the local tribes cannot use parts of it anymore. They have a case for their vitriol, but Jamie and Claire may nonetheless do what they can in order to preserve some essence of harmony. It benefits everyone if there is no bloodshed, and we’re also sure that they do not want to be in a position where they ultimately have to pick a side.

In this promo, you do also see Claire briefly mention Brianna, but also that she is “far away” … that may not be the case for too much longer.

Brianna’s journey to Scotland

It appears almost like this storyline will have some elements of an investigation, as Roger will travel in order to figure out where Bree is and precisely what she is doing … only to eventually learn that she is set to potentially travel through the stones. The end of the promo signals that this is happening in this episode, though we haven’t gotten enough of her point of view to really learn why she feels so intent on doing this now. Is it really so simple as to her wanting to see her father for the first time? It could be, especially since she actually has the opportunity now to see her parents in the same place. Even if she doesn’t want to live in the past forever, she is presented here with an opportunity that she may feel is ultimately worth taking.
