Absentia season 2: Who has already wrapped up filming?

In a post on Instagram, Neil Jackson (who plays Emily’s brother Jack Byrne on the series) shared the news that Paul Freeman, otherwise known as the fantasy Papa Byrne, is done with filming on the second season. That doesn’t mean that everyone is wrapped yet, but one of our favorite characters has already completed all of their scenes. We’re basically just hoping for another round of Papa Byrne awesomeness in season 2 given that in season 1, he was fiercely loyal to his daughter and had her back even when many other people did not. He understands the difficulties of her job in a way that few others really would.
For those of you who want to think positively about the long-term future of Absentia, odds are you will appreciate hearing Jackson mention potential seasons to come beyond this one … even if nothing is 100% confirmed as of yet. It mostly just means that the cast and crew continue to remain enthusiastic about the product and anytime you can hear things like that, it bodes well for the long-term future. The next order of business then is just finding a way to ensure that people watch fairly quickly after the second season premieres. That can be hard to do sometimes, mostly because of the fact that it’s such a competitive landscape out there and it’s easy for shows to get forgotten. This series certainly deserves to have more attention, so here’s to hoping that it gets precisely everything that it should in the many months to come.
More than likely, Absentia season 2 is going to premiere at some point in 2019. We’re expected a rollout date that will vary depending on the country, so check back for some more updates along the way. It’s possible that filming as a whole will wrap up at some point by the end of the year.
