Is Chicago Fire new tonight on NBC? What’s coming up for the firehouse

Unfortunately, we’re not exactly getting what we want today when it comes to getting a new episode. Because of this being the day before Thanksgiving (hardly a great day for ratings), NBC has opted not to put a new episode on the air tonight and send it to the ratings graveyard. To go along with that there is also no new episode coming up next week either! You’re going to have to wait until we get all the way around to December 5 to see the season 7 fall finale play out, and it definitely does seem like the story for Casey and Naomi is going to escalate. The promo that’s out there shows the two of them kissing and with that in mind, you have to wonder if that means another relationship is going to be coming within the reasonably near future.
While things may seem that way right now, it doesn’t actually seem as though this is a sure thing for Casey by any means. Speaking via TV Guide, Jesse Spencer made it clear that he doesn’t see his character trying to settle down with Naomi right away:
“The reality of actually being physically close to another person is just automatically weird. It’s very strange. And he doesn’t wanna rush into things but he wants to move on. I don’t think we’ll see him settle down anytime soon … That doesn’t mean his relationship with Naomi won’t continue. He doesn’t wanna just jump back into another relationship straight away.”
We do think that there is a certain degree of symbolism to the Naomi / Casey kiss coming when it did, largely in that it signals the series really working in order to move on past the exit of Dawson. We knew that it was bound to happen eventually and there just isn’t all that much story to tell for a character who is off-screen forever. Yet, we are surprised that it is coming this quickly — maybe it will pay off and everything will start to make perfect sense when the fall finale rolls around.
