As we start to look towards the Chicago Fire season 7 fall finale airing on NBC early next month, it looks like there’s some danger ahead — especially for Cruz’s new girlfriend.

In the promo below for this episode, it does look as though Chloe could be in some sort of serious danger after a pile-up on the street. This is a tough thought to bear, mostly because Joe has been through more than almost anyone — plus, doesn’t the dude deserve some element of happiness? He’s already had other relationships fall apart, and then there was the whole unrequited thing that happened last season with Brett. Chloe represents something new for him, but it’s also clear that she may have the worst luck ever. Remember that her life was already in danger at the burning building a little bit earlier this season.
Cruz is one of those guys who brings so much soul and passion to Firehouse 51 that it’s going to be really hard if something happens to Chloe. He helps to set the mood at the house, and also finds a way to cause all sorts of hijinks. This situation is reminiscent of when Otis had the near-death experience last season. While nothing is happening to Cruz physically, you have to think that this is the sort of thing that could have an enormous mental impact on him in ways that other members of the firehouse are going to pick up and notice.
What about with Casey and Naomi?
There have been many a headline already all about the kiss that these two share in the promo, but it is still somewhat shocking that it’s happening so soon after Dawson’s departure — especially since Casey’s own feelings on this subject are, at least for the time being, a little bit ambiguous. He made some sort of move at the end of this past episode to show some interest; he effectively put himself back out there in a way that he didn’t have to. Yet, we’re also not sure that he is completely over Dawson yet and this is something that could cause these two problems down the line.
Is it a little too early to rush to judgment on any of these things? Maybe, largely because everything is still so new and we really don’t know Naomi all that well at all. Yet, these are the sorts of things that do need to be considered in the event that these two characters end up being together down the line.
