Quick Hits: Temptation Island revival, Sabrina holiday special, Star Wars series casting

There are a few different items worth getting into in this edition of Quick Hits, but let’s start with some particularly shocking revival news! Who would’ve imagined that there would be a new Temptation Island at some point in the future? Yet, that is what is happening here.

USA has announced that a new version of this show is going to launch on Tuesday, January 15 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time, with original host Mark L. Walberg set to return. The show originally aired on Fox, and basically revolved around struggling couples heading out to a tropical island where there were a number of good-looking single people. The idea was to see if these couples could handle all of the temptation — basically, it’s about relationship drama. It was highly controversial, but it also has led to there being other versions all over the world. It did also run on Fox for three different seasons, which is better than anyone probably assumed that it did.

As for some other news on the day…

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina holiday special coming – Surprise! Netflix secretly shot a bonus episode of the first season entitled “A Midwinter’s Tale,” and it is going to launch on the service on Friday, December 14. For some enws as to what’s coming there, take a look at the attached synopsis:

“The Church of Night, like all covens, celebrates the Winter Solstice — the longest night of the year — when families gather together around the Yule Fire to sing pagan carols, tell ghost stories and huddle against the supernatural creatures that come out to cause mischief. Since the Winter Solstice is when the veil between this world and the next is at its thinnest, it’s the perfect time to conduct a séance — which Sabrina convenes, to try and contact her mother. But the holidays are also a time for guests and visitors — both welcome and unwelcome — and you never know what might come down the chimney.”

Basically, for everyone who likes the creepier side of Christmas, there is a reasonably good chance that this will be right up your alley.

Star Wars series casting – If you haven’t heard, The Mandalorian is the upcoming Disney+ streaming service that is being executive-produced by Jon Favreau. Today, we’ve learned that Game of Thrones alum Pedro Pascal will be coming on board as one of the leads. There isn’t too much insight on the role just yet, but that shouldn’t stop anyone from starting up buzz and discussion. Anytime you’ve got something Star Wars, it’s worth noting — especially since this series is set to chronicle what happened in between the fall of the Empire and the rise of the First Order. Basically, it’s bridging the gap between the original trilogy and the latest one. Pascal’s a fantastic actor and this series is certainly lucky to have her on board.
