Blue Bloods season 9 photo: First look at Lou Diamond Phillips’ return
The image that we have for you above offers up a first look at Phillips’ return as notorious cartel hit man Delgado, otherwise known as the man responsible for burning down Danny Reagan’s home. He also made his presence felt in an imposing fashion in the premiere, and despite Danny seemingly doing what he could to turn the rest of the cartel against him, Delgado is clearly still breathing. As it turns out, he didn’t lose his head as the end of the premiere suggested!
(Note: There have been some inconsistencies about Delgado’s first name — in the premiere press release, he was referred to as “Louis.” Meanwhile, in the most-recent one it is “Luis.” Right now we’re leaning towards the latter, but we’ll probably just refer to him as Delgado anyway.)
What we’re gearing up for within this episode is a fantastic showdown between Donnie Wahlberg and Phillips’ characters, as you have two formidable actors who are deliver powerful performances. These characters are also forces of nature in their respective fields. Delgado already had a vendetta against Danny prior to the events of the premiere, but what happened then may only accelerate things and now, no Reagan is 100% safe. This is clearly the sort of criminal who would have no problem targeting any member of his family and devastating his life however he could. Time is of the essence here! We feel for Danny and what he is going through, but at the same time it’s hard to deny that we’re going to enjoy watching this story play out. The meatier the material, the better that Blue Bloods is as a whole.
The hard part in all of this is going to be waiting to Friday to see everything unravel.
