Ray Donovan season 6 premiere video: Ray at a crossroads
Let’s set up where things are going to be over the course of this premiere episode. The action starts off with Ray trying to figure out what his life holds after jumping ten stories into the East River. He survives, and he’s pulled out of the water and offered another chance at life. This is where the character finds himself at somewhat of a crossroads. This is a chance for him to start over, or potentially head back to Los Angeles. Then, there’s also another option: Work with Sam Winslow in New York, where you have an opportunity to partake in some business that feels very familiar to you.
This is where things probably get a little bit interesting with Ray. We are talking here about a guy who is, in some ways, unable to escape the life that he has. Even if he does not love every single thing about being a fixer, how do you walk away from that? More than that, is there a way to walk away from that? Is he just doomed to continue to go about his life in the same way that he has? We imagine that there will be some more twists and turns that unfold as this episode moves along.
Given the way that Ray Donovan often works, we imagine that this new season is going to feature the character finding himself in too deep, and then struggling to figure out how to get out of it. The main difference now is that we’re in a different setting. There will be a new energy about much of the story we see, but the results may not be altogether different at all. That’s just something we are bracing for.
