In what is yet another sign of Starz really setting up Outlander season 4 to succeed, it and many other shows are now coming to Hulu.

Starting off today, Hulu subscribers are going to be able to add Starz to their established subscription plans — this will allow them to check out live versions of their Starz and Starz Encore channels; to go along with that, they are also going to be able to watch some of the network’s past lineup of shows (including Outlander and Power) to go along with many of their different movies. It’s a smart move in order to get this out there before the start of Outlander, mostly since that should help to amp up the series’ ratings even further.

Basically, we are in an era at the moment where there are a million different options for viewers to watch television. That makes it harder for shows to deliver ratings in a traditional way, but the good news for a network like Starz here is that they are so far ahead of the curve. They realize at this point that what matters the most is that viewers are subscribing to their network — subscribers gained is almost more important than total viewers, as much as that pains us to say as a ratings junkie who loves examining numbers. This is going to help the show, not that it necessarily needs a ton of help since it’s already killing it and has renewals through season 6.

Yet, who knows? Maybe this is the sort of thing that helps to buoy the series to a season 7 — the show’s future beyond season 6 is, at least at the moment, still unclear.
