‘Shiptober 2018: Outlander (Jamie & Claire), Riverdale (Betty & Jughead) kick off round 3
It’s a chance to celebrate some of the greatest ‘ships that the TV has to offer, and we’ve got a fun tournament this year to go along with it. Over the course of this month, we’ll be running some ‘Shiptober polls while also discussing what makes some of these couples so great and also sharing some teases / expectations for upcoming episodes! This is a chance to celebrate and discuss great ‘ships while gauging their popularity among readers at the same time. Only one ‘ship will be crowned the victor at the very end!
Voting Rules – Vote however often you like! Only one ‘ship from round 3 will move onward, and we are keeping these polls open until Friday, October 26 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. The following day, the fourth round will officially begin. (All of the information needed can be found in the bracket image above.)
In this ‘Shiptober battle, round three officially is underway! We are focusing on a battle here between Jamie & Claire of Outlander and Betty & Jughead of Riverdale that could have some interesting results — at least based on the way these ‘ships fared in the first two rounds.
Jamie & Claire, Outlander (#1 seed) – Outlander is a longtime favorite of CarterMatt readers, and given that Jamie and Claire Fraser are at the forefront of the story, it’s fair to call them one of television’s landmark ‘ships. What’s also great about them is that, entering season 4, the will-they-or-won’t-they phase of the relationship is over. It’s more about what the two take on together now, and how they handle conflict that is thrown in their direction. Jamie & Claire got off to a solid start in round one of ‘Shiptober, but saw a big surge in votes for round two against Ross & Demelza of Poldark. If that trend continues, they could be very formidable the rest of the way.
Betty & Jughead, Riverdale (#3 seed) – With Bughead, meanwhile, you have one of the biggest wild-cards of the entire tournament at the moment. The two narrowly escaped defeat in the first round, but then saw the biggest percentage increase in votes out of anyone in round 2. As a matter of fact, they were able to throttle Barry & Iris of The Flash, the ‘ship that received more votes than anyone in round 1. They are coming into this round with momentum, but at this point in ‘Shiptober everyone left is a contender. Consider voting here a fun way to follow along their journey as Riverdale continues to work its way through a tumultuous season 3. At least, for now, it appears that Betty & Jughead are going to be spending a lot of time together.
