Fuller House season 5: The case for (at least) one more year
In the end, though, the people whose opinions matters the most are the higher-ups at Netflix, and these are the people who we are not hearing from at the moment. They are keeping quiet and with that, we’re left to wonder more on our own just what is going to happen moving forward with the series.
Is there a case to bring the show back for a season 5, even though we haven’t seen the fourth season yet? We’d argue so, and we’d also say that the biggest argument for it is that season 4 wasn’t seemingly planned to be the end. There was no talk about the end of production that they were working on the series finale, and that’s in part why Candace Cameron Bure spoke out recently in favor of the show’s long-term future.
Beyond just this, though, there’s also an audience here to cater to. There aren’t too many series out there on Netflix that are really catering to the family-comedy crowd, with this show and One Day at a Time being fairly high up on the list. Sure, there are a number of children’s series, but how many of those appeal just as much to nostalgic adults? The original brilliance behind Fuller House was that you were bringing an audience to Netflix that wasn’t there before. We’re sure that the streaming service may claim that they don’t need to recruit that audience as much now as they did a few years ago, but we do think that they matter.
The truth here is that in the wake of many Netflix cancellations (see Luke Cage or Iron Fist), no series may be as safe as we would have previously assumed. Yet, we’d like to think that Fuller House could get at least one more year in order to ensure that its story gets told to the fullest.
