‘Shiptober 2018: Supergirl (Kara & Lena) vs. Timeless (Lucy & Wyatt)
It’s a chance to celebrate some of the greatest ‘ships that the TV has to offer, and we’ve got a fun tournament this year to go along with it. Over the course of this month, we’ll be running some ‘Shiptober polls while also discussing what makes some of these couples so great and also sharing some teases / expectations for upcoming episodes! This is a chance to celebrate and discuss great ‘ships while gauging their popularity among readers at the same time. Only one ‘ship will be crowned the victor at the very end!
Voting Rules – Vote however often you like! Only one ‘ship from round 2 will move onward, and we are keeping these polls open until Sunday, October 21 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. The following day, the third round will officially begin. (All of the information needed can be found in the bracket image above.)
In this ‘Shiptober battle, we imagine that there’s going to be a fun showdown! We’ve got one popular pair in Kara & Lena from Supergirl facing off against Lucy & Wyatt of Timeless. Both have enormous web followings, but only one will make it to round 3!
Kara & Lena, Supergirl (#3 seed) – To us, Supergirl is one of those shows that is almost always going to have three or four ‘ships going strong at the same time — yet, Supercorp seems primed to be one of the most-popular week in and week out. They’ve stood the test of time ever since Lena’s debut on the show, and have routinely been a very-popular ‘ship here at CarterMatt with supporters appreciating the way in which these characters care for one another, but also challenge each other in a way that no one else does. They encourage one another to be better, which is really the sort of thing that you should want out of any relationship. We hope to see them continue to grow in season 4, but we do imagine that there will be some bumps in the road. That seems par for the course when you’ve got so many forces pulling at Lena and Kara that could eventually be distracted with the anti-alien movement going on within National City. She’s going to have two different ways to approach it — a hero in costume and also as a reporter. These two approaches could occasionally be in conflict with each other, and they could also put a strain on her time for both Lena and others.
Lucy & Wyatt, Timeless (#2 seed) – Is the door almost closed on Lyatt? It depends, we suppose, on how you look at things. The only thing that is guaranteed at the moment for Timeless is two more episodes, which are airing at the end of the year as a movie event. We imagine that there will be some wonderful moments for the two in there, but after that, their future may be left mostly to our imaginations — unless, of course, some miracle happens and a way to save Timeless emerges through the rubble. This series has had a difficult, tumultuous run on the air with so many starts and stops, but their relationship has persevered. They are a couple defined by their love, their spirit for adventure, and how they always look after each other no matter what stands in the way. Let’s just hope these qualities last for at least one more mission to Save Rufus.
