The Flash season 5 episode 2 is coming onto The CW Tuesday night, and this one should prove dramatic. After all, we’re getting a chance here to behold Cicada in a larger way! At the end of this past episode, we got a brief introduction to the man. Yet, there is so much in terms of a larger mystery to wonder about here. Take, for example, what he really wants and how he’s going to go about getting it. He’s a dark character who seems to be genuinely scary, and that differentiates him from some other people.

So what makes him so different than every other Big Bad? For starters, he has an interest impact of people’s abilities. Speaking via Entertainment Weekly, just take a look at what Danielle Nicolet (Cecile) had the following to say on this character:
“I think it’s the first time the show has ever had a big bad that affects everyone’s powers … There’s always been a big bad who wants our powers, but this guy affects our powers and it’s different. The team has to figure out a whole different way to approach this bad guy and they have to work together.”
Eventually, you are going to be able to see this guy collide further with the team, and it’s pretty clear that it will require a different skill set than usual to take this guy down. If Cicada can minimize their powers somewhat, it does change the game with this show given that there’s not just some superhuman solution to dealing with him. That’s useful at this point, given that the writers probably have a challenge in coming up with villains who, at this point, are so powerful that they can actually match up against the collective likes of Vibe, The Flash, Elongated Man, and then also XS, who is at least among the team for now.
