Ready for a Saturday edition of Outlander notes? We hope so, given that we’ve got some new headlines within all about Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, and John Bell.
Let’s start here, though, with Balfe, who had a rather fantastic quote about the new season via Elle. So often with television, we think of it in terms of the mystery or the will-they-or-won’t-they. With this series in particular now, we are moving towards this exciting time where really, there is no “won’t they” anymore. There’s an element of stability, and with that, everyone can settle in!
Check out more of what Caitriona had to say on the subject:
“You have to get to a certain point in a relationship where there’s no cliffhangers anymore … You can disagree, you can have cycles where you’re not always perfectly in sync, but there’s no more cliffhangers with Jamie and Claire in terms of their love and devotion to each other. That’s important because otherwise you start to manipulate an audience’s emotions too much.”
To us as a viewer, what makes this exciting is that you can focus on Claire and Jamie’s unified struggles and they can face them together. There are still conflicts that are interesting without the whole notion of whether or not they will split.
As for some other stories…
John Bell has some fun with Rollo – Not only that, but also Rollo’s sibling! Apparently, it just so turns out that there’s a bond here off-set that certainly matches the one that exists on set. (For a fun behind-the-scenes video featuring Rollo and Bell, visit the link here.)
Sam Heughan teases Barbour limited series collection – In the video below, Heughan shows off one of the new designs — he’s a Global Brand Ambassador for the company, and he has been very much involved in the design process, as well. His clothing is perfect for fall in Scotland, but also a wide array of other places, as well!
