Outlander season 4 video: John Bell on training with Rollo

Rollo

Outlander season 4 is going to premiere on Starz come November 4, and one of the most important new characters this time around is actually a dog! Rollo has been featured often for almost a good year now, as he becomes a beloved companion for Young Ian in the story.

In the new video below courtesy of Starz, you get a further chance to actually see a little more of Rollo in action! John Bell introduces animal wrangler David Stewart in the clip, and he goes on to discuss the relationship that he has with the dog and also some of how the two work together on set. There is a good bit of training that needed to be done well before the start of filming, but during production that needed to be maintained. Having a trainer on set helps to facilitate things, and of course Bell was taught quite a bit himself.

This video gives you a small sense as to how Bell works alongside the dog and some of what the two will be up to this season — there are no major spoilers here, but we hope that these two are going to offer up a lot of fun in the months ahead. Having a dog on set provides a different sort of energy and presence to the show, and it also may give Ian an opportunity to run around and get into a little bit of mischief. While there has been a good bit said about season 4 storylines for a number of other main characters on Outlander, there hasn’t really been anywhere near that much said when it comes to Young Ian. At least this means that there is a small element of mystery here, at least to some non-readers of the series.
