Outlander season 4: See Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, cast quizzed on US history

Outlander

We’ve got another Outlander video to share today via the cast’s time at New York Comic-Con, and this one is certainly rather amusing.

If you look below, you can see Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Sophie Skelton, and Richard Rankin do their best in order to answer a wide array of questions (via MTV News) related to US history. They tackle the Declaration of Independence, early Presidents, states in the union, and even the National Anthem at the end. There are a few interesting things that we learn through this, primarily that Caitriona has a rather impressive knowledge of geography, that John Adams reminds the Outlander cast of beer, and that they at least know some of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

Of course, we conclude this video by reminding you that there is zero reason for most of the cast to know any of this stuff. Reminder that A) you don’t need US history lessons to play characters before the revolution and 2) these people probably weren’t taught that much American history in school. This is basically akin to us going over to England, Scotland, or Ireland and trying to answer questions about their geography, government, and history of Prime Ministers. Suffice it to say, it would not go all that well.

Ultimately, the appeal here is really just getting another chance to see the Outlander cast have some fun together in front of the press as the promote the upcoming season 4 launch on November 4. On some level, we almost prefer these silly videos to some of the same conversation about the season itself, mostly because we’ve heard much of what can be said prior to the premiere episode airing already. There are still so many other quotes that are held behind a lock and key, largely because there are some non-readers out there who can still be surprised by the story that is coming up.

Of course, we’ll continue to have coverage on all things Outlander leading up to the launch date! Stay tuned, and fingers crossed for some more fun stuff along the way. (Photo: Starz.)
