Outlander season 4 promos: Starz spotlights Claire, Brianna’s journey
Below, you can see a pair of new season 4 promos that are designed to get you all the more invested in a pair of important characters — Claire, and then also her daughter Brianna to go along with it. Caitriona Balfe and Sophie Skelton’s characters have had some wonderful story to date, but we are now entering one of the few times when you really could see the two characters apart for a lengthy period of time. The last time you saw Bree, after all, it was at around the time Claire said goodbye to her in Boston. This is a chance to pick up on her story a substantial period of time after that. It’s the first time that she has really been away from her mother ever; she assumes that she is happy off with Jamie, and she needs to figure out more how best to live for herself.

The first promo focuses mostly on the relationship between Claire and Brianna, as told mostly through the mother’s lens. Meanwhile, the second video is a little bit more Brianna-focused as you see even more of what’s happened through her eyes. While we’ve seen a little of that point of view throughout the series, all of that will accelerate this time around. The closing seconds of the second promo is easily the cause for the greatest overall excitement, largely because this is the biggest tease we’ve got of (spoiler alert) Brianna heading back to the past. It’s one of the most important moments of season 4, mostly because there are such a wide range of life-changing things that happen to her there. Some of these are positives, but then there are others that are unspeakably bad.
