Bodyugard episode 6 (finale) spoilers: Is David Budd really innocent?

Bodyguard episode 2

Entering Bodyguard episode 6, otherwise known as the final episode of the season, will we see David Budd find his way to innocence? It’s certainly something that he is striving for, but there is effectively no guarantee that it is going to happen. We certainly know that the walls are closing on him, and it absolutely doesn’t help that there are a number of people out there who seem more than fine with him taking the fall. David is in some way the perfect patsy, mostly in that he is a guy who has a reputation of issues related to his PTSD; because of that and his relationship with Julia Montague, it’s fairly easy to proclaim that he was compromised.

Below, the Bodyguard episode 6 synopsis offers up some other information when it comes to what lies ahead:

Principal Protection Officer David Budd (Richard Madden) has made a major breakthrough in the investigation into the attack on the Home Secretary, but his enquiries have put him in mortal danger. With the clock ticking and no-one left who believes him, David attempts to prove his innocence. But the evidence against him begins to stack up …

So how does David really move forward following this season, provided that he survives? That’s going to be difficult given that really, his children are all he has and he’s been struggling to even be a great father to them. He’s got so many demons that it’s hard to find his way forward, and judging from what we’ve seen to date it’s hard to really think that we are going to be seeing things get any better for him in the immediate future.

There is no guarantee of a season 2 for now featuring Richard Madden, but with a show this good, it certainly does make sense to have a little bit more hope for the future.
