Roseanne Barr saying ‘neutral’ on The Conners, planning move to Israel

The Conners

For those of you wondering whether or not Roseanne Barr is going to hate-tweet The Connersdon’t count on it happening.

Speaking in a new interview on the Rabbi Shmuley podcast Promised Land, Barr claims that she’s not going to bash the new series when it premieres next month; however, she is also not planning to go out of her way when it comes to supporting it, either:

“I’m not going to curse it or bless it. I’m staying neutral. That’s what I do … I’m staying away from it. Not wishing bad on anyone, and I don’t wish good for my enemies. I don’t. I can’t. I just stay neutral. That’s what I gotta do. I have some mental health issues of depression and stuff. I got to stay in the middle or I’ll go dark, and I don’t want to go dark again. I’ve done it.”

Barr also claimed in the interview that her plan at the moment is to move to Israel in the near future, where she can receive teaching and be halfway around the world at the time in which the show airs. That certainly will make things easier to avoid, given that she’ll be on a totally different schedule at the time the show airs. (For those wondering, Israel is a good seven hours ahead of America — while The Conners is airing on the East Coast, it will be 3:00 a.m. there.)

Of course, it’s all well and good for Roseanne to say this sort of thing right now, but we feel personally that this is one of those things that we’re better off taking a wait-and-see approach on. It’s hard to feel all that confident when we are talking here about someone who has a history of saying controversial things and will almost certainly be getting a lot of attention next month. Whether or not she remains neutral at all remains to be seen.
